Wanna read something that has really gotten wried, go
to fastpitch board and read the post I listed in my subject. Bluezebra, Jel, and Texblue have seen and replied to it. Poster named Roscoe seems, or says he does, have pull with ASA. Enough to have an umpire banned if he threw the coach and catcher out because his catcher allowed thrown ball to hit an umpire be- cause of some of the umpires action. BTW that is eteamz fastpitch board here. http://www.eteamz.com/fastpitch/boar....cfm?id=943455 [Edited by whiskers_ump on Mar 22nd, 2004 at 08:11 PM]

Yeah, I believe that was directed at me. I wasn't meaning that as a personal threat. Just a comment on what could/should happen if he intentionally caused that to happen.
Again, I would like to reiterate, the umpire was wrong in what he did. No excuse. But, then, the coach would be wrong if he was responsible for any retaliatory action. If he does carry enough clout to get someone banned for something like that, then I probably don't need to call games for an association that allows him to do this kind of stuff. You know, I posted 2 more times on that subject and both of them were cut from it. Oh well.

WOW
I kinda left that thread after I posted, but it has gotten wild. While the umpire in question showed poor judgement. Roscoe, showed flat out stupidity. To make a threat, and put it in print is kinda dumb. In the words of the great philoshoper Barney Fife, (in reference to Ernest T. Bass), HE'S A NUT! |

TexBlue,
One of my post also got cut....Not sure why? I just wanted to know who Roscoe knew in high places. He kinda apologized to me when I mentioned the incident we had at the AFA NATS. He quickly informed me that this was ASA and he knew people high up. I agree the umpire in the originial post was kinda, sorta, way out of line, but so was Roscoe and one other coach poster.

Whiskers_ump, you gotta wonder, is he that way on the field, or just on message boards. If he mentioned it, I'm sure he's the kinda guy who would call it, but I'm just not sure he wants to make it as personal as he did on the post.
Heck, maybe one of us will find out one of these days. Hope not.

Oh what fun we have
1st comment is the ump that made the comment about a 11yr was a dumb a$$ and the UIC should of chewed him a new hole and probably sent him home....BUT.....
These parents and coaches that are replying I wonder if they ever listen to their own parents and coaches during a game how many times have you heard in a game coming from the monkey gallery SHE CANT HIT or MOVE UP SHE THROWING SLOW BALLS or something similiar. To me this is just USC as the other Dont throw rocks if you live in a glass house JMO Don And for Roscoe I would bet he is all hot air. Probably knows a small town UIC somewhere as his high up in ASA |

Interesting thread...
I think that ump was unprofessional to make a comment on the slow or slower speed pitcher. There is no need to do that.. especially at that age bracket, I doubt there are many fireballs thrown from any pitcher.
The ump aint got nothing on those coaches or whatever they are all up in arms over it... as if the blue's responding to the thread were collectively responsible for the comment of a single blue.... That said... I wouldnt be suprised if one day that comment actually helped toughen that girl up... "show that blue who's who" .. shes not playing the best spot on the field for someone thin skinned and overly emotional. The term "take my ball and go home" come to mind... I think I'll stay away from that thread... its clearly pile-on bait to suck blues in so they can take their aggressions out on them without fear of getting ejected. |

Those who have been on eteamz awhile know that I tend to enjoy a good wizzing contest with coaches on some issues (IP & strike zone being the 2 most recent).
However, even I could tell that thread had no upward possibilities. Roscoe and Coach TD took it right into the tank. The umpire that was the initial subject of the tread was completely unprofessional, out of line, and should not be calling JO ball. I once called a 14U rec state tournament for a UIC who complained and moaned the entire weekend how the calabre of play in the tournament was beneath him. I have little doubt some of the players heard his remarks, since he complained so often. I do know his body language when he took the field also made his attidue obivous. He knew it was a rec tournament when he took the job!! I'll never do another tournament for that pathetic, full-of-himself so-called umpire. Where do we get such umpires? From the same gene pool that produced Roscoe and Coach TD.

One poster in that thread said something about having his pitcher throw a fastball about waist high and have the catcher intentionally miss it, then in a later post talked about umpires needing to be role models. What kind of a role model is it that would instruct a child to intentionally hurt another human being? Seems there is a little hypocrisy going on. I tried to post this on the eteamz site, but for some reason was having trouble with my sign in. (Perhaps because I haven't used it in a couple of years.)

Could you kill this thread in a few days so it doesn't become a parallel of the one you are talking about?
