For ASA you have to go to one of the National Umpire Clinics. Then you get an invitation after that. It's a pretty cool experience.

For PONY I'm not sure how you qualify for Nationals for the Select group on the East Coast. I got an invitation once, through Karen Reese and Dan Vaughan. I had to turn it down, because I had just done a Nationals in Illinois and one in Harlingen TX and had to go back to work. Contact Dan and let him know you are interested and see what kind of response you get.

I do know it's a big difference between the east coast and the southern states. A lot of ego seems to go along with the stories I hear from the teams that go to the East coast Nationals. I just love being on the field and doing my best to call a good game. No need for an ego with me. I just love it!

What state do you live in?

Thank you! That was very nice of you!

Another question...how can I eventually do PONY or ASA Nationals? I would love eventually to get there. I've been umpiring for 7 years.
