Why don't these contradict each other in Rule 6C?

1.B. (Men’s, Women’s and Coed Class C, D and E/REC) The pitcher may take a position from the front edge of the pitcher’s plate to 6 feet behind the pitcher’s plate within the 24 inch width of the pitcher’s plate with both feet firmly on the ground. 3.E. The pivot foot shall remain in contact with the pitcher’s plate until the pitched ball leaves the hand. If a step is taken, it may be forward, backward, or to the side, provided the pivot foot remains in contact with the pitcher’s plate and the step is simultaneous with the release of the ball. I have not found an interpretation for this?

Comments: Allows pitchers to position themselves up to 6 feet behind and within the 24” pitcher’s plate to start their pitch in the listed classifications. Its an exception to the rule more than a contradiction, really needs to be clarified though. Its a safety thing. |
