Misaligned field
Seems like certain fields around here have issues figuring out how to lay a field out properly. End result is that is ive seen the bases shifted 1-3ft(not exaggerating) one way or another. As the lines dont typically make it out to the foul poles, how does one judge fair/foul flyballs tonyhe outfield. Do you make the line Home to Third/First extended, or home to pole, or off third/first to pole? Games played at these fields are usssa or USA depending on thr league.

Lines that are improperly drawn are called as is.
Exception: When a batted ball strikes either 1st or 3rd base, it is a fair ball, even if the part of the base that was struck might appear to be in foul territory. This is not a mutual agreement, but the ground rules which are discussed and clarified at the plate meeting. As for outfield lines not being drawn, this results in a judgement call by the plate umpire. Just as we don't "guess outs", we don't guess a ball to be foul unless we are 100% sure that it is foul. Also to be part of the ground rules discussed at the plate meeting.

The definitions of fair and foul refer to bases, not poles.

H. Hits the foul pole.
And shouldn't it really be the fair pole. Heard a story about an umpire that called a batted ball foul because it hit the outer (foul side) part of the pole.

At the fields I described above, there was a play that has now entered infamy when a batted ball went over the left half of third base. PU called the ball foul because "it was on the foul side of the bag". Slo pitch game with the 2nd strike foul out rule. Batter had two strikes and ended the game. Its been a standing joke in this league for two decades.
