Heard a story about an umpire that called a batted ball foul because it hit the outer (foul side) part of the pole.

At the fields I described above, there was a play that has now entered infamy when a batted ball went over the left half of third base. PU called the ball foul because "it was on the foul side of the bag". Slo pitch game with the 2nd strike foul out rule. Batter had two strikes and ended the game. Its been a standing joke in this league for two decades.
