One Time "Alternate" Umpire Uniform

Just looking for opinions......

A local high school is planning an alumni/benefit game. The umpires are wanting to wear Hawaiian shirts to call the game. It is not a "sanctioned" game.

Anyone see a problem with this?

Since it is not "sanctioned", I suggest wear the shirts, but be sure you have some type of liability insurance. Just because it is a fun game doesn't mean something will not go wrong.

Ugh, don't remind me. My local UIC is requiring the new USA shirt for sanctioned games after August 1. Luckily my national is using the "worm" ASA shirts, which I just bought last year. I am glad they will get some use.

NFHS still permits a navy cardigan. I am tempted to get one at the thrift shop to wear on the bases next season.

Back to OP: for a non-sanctioned alumni game, you can ABSOLUTELY wear Hawaiian shirts as a crew. Hell, work it 4-man, too, if you can. Back in the day when I was a young pup in Nebraska, Hawaiian shirts were the unofficial "I'm off this game" shirt of all the cool umpires. By which I mean, the old guys. I still have several, but I can't fit into any of them.

I approve. Have fun, stay safe, and rock those Hawaiian shirts.
And if two umpires chase...well...at least you can work the bases 2-man!

Pants don't match.
