If it's only to avoid eligible receiver numbering, heck, just go see almost any children's football game. We don't have eligible receiver numbering, and it works just fine. Then again, we have hardly any passing.

I do like the idea of "single-entity management", though, and I agree that spring is still where it's at in expanding for the audience.
