The Holder

Can anyone help me out on this? My partner a work says there is a rule on how far the holder can set up (8 yards). I tossed the BS Flag on that. I say there is no rule where the holder sets up. It's just a standard 7 - 8 yards. If there is a rule a rule can someone please reference the the rule # .
Thanks for any help.

There is a rule in the NF code that requires a player to be set up in a scrimmage kick formation so that the numbering exception can be used. But it is only a flag if the right numbers are no on the line, not based on how they set up behind the snapper. What did you throw a flag for?

Peace

Rut- I don't think he's an official, just looking to settle a disagreement.

I was in the Long Beach unit for 7 years so I knew there was no Federation rule. My co worker said it was an NFL rule. Found my answer in the NFL rule book rule 911 page 55 explains it all. No Rule!!

Where'd you get your hands on an NFL book? They're like nuclear codes or something.

They've actually made their rules book and case book freely available as PDFs on their website.

They sell them at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. I live not far from there, and have bought several of them.
