If you read the Redding Guide he talks about major and minor clock stoppers. Major clock stoppers include:
A ball or ball in player possession going OOB An incomplete pass B is awarded a new series Either team is awarded a new series following a legal kick A score A fair catch is made Can't think of any others??? Must be some...... Anyway, if you stop the clock and there are two reasons for stopping the clock (in this case the foul and the score) then the major stopper trumps the minor one and you start on the snap. This is a simplified summary of the Guide but it's a good one to know. |
