Defensive Pass Interference

Just had a thought, and I don't know how to mark it off.

2nd and 10 from the 50. A's pass from A18 to A83 is completed at the 30 yard line where he is tackeld by B24. While the ball was in the air B24 used his arms to pull down one of A83's arm. The penality for DPI is enforced from the 30, to make it 1st and 10 from the 15...correct?

DPI is a previous spot foul (it is a loose ball play by definition. So in your scenario it is likely they will decline the penalty.

Peace

CANADIAN RULING:

DPI is applied from the PLS. Since PF > 15y from PLS, A will decline and accept the gain. The R should not even ask A their decision.

NCAA: 15 yards from the previous spot, so in this case, they would decline the penalty.
