Overtime

Probably a simple question for the vets but I'll ask it anyway.

In overtime the defense intercepts and runs it back for a touchdown. Game over or dead ball on the interception?

One part of the rule book says if the defensive team gains possession the ball is dead immediately. Another part of the rule book says if the defensive team scores a touchdown or safety the game has ended.
