The terminology should no longer be used in calling fouls or reporting fouls.
I strongly suspected so. Thanks.

It drives me absolutely nuts when I hear an official use the phrase. Thanks for the reply.

This is especially important when you are conferencing w/ other officials or a coach. Also, make sure it's off when you are in the locker room.

Also, make sure you stop walking before you start talking. It looks and sounds better.

I used a field mic for 6 out of our 9 regular season games this year. I, as ljudge stated, would use it to do a good job of explaining the situation. Here were some examples fom the past few years.

Holding, on the offense, 10 yard penalty from the spot of the foul, repeat 3rd down.

Illegal block in the back, on the return team, the penalty will be administered from the end of the run, 1st down.

5 yard face mask penalty, on the defense, the penalty is administered from the end of the run. The 5 yard penalty will result in a 1st down.

Intentional grounding, on the offense. 5 yard penalty from the spot of the pass and results in a loss of down, 3rd down.

We have 2 fouls on the play. Illegal shift on the offense, and defensive pass interference on the defense. Those penalties will offset. We will repeat 3rd down from the previous spot.

Dead ball, false start on the offense, 5 yard penalty from the previous spot, repeat 2nd down.

Please reset the game clock to 23. 6 seconds and start the clock on my whistle.

The quarter must be extended for an untimed down as we had a foul during the last timed down of the quarter.

These are a few that I have had the past few years. I love using a field mic, and I think the fans and coaches really appreciate it as well.
