Question

Can't tell that I don't do much anymore. Guess I'm getting old...

Talking with some of the guys one of them asked me if the referee should wind the clock after each down when the clock is not stopped.

I said no, if the clock isn't stopped then you don't need to give a wind signal.

They also said that their 'R' was on the Qb's left (non throwing arm) side. I could be wrong but I thought that was standard running play mechanics.

Again, I could just be getting old. (probably am)

Lightbulb Canadian Mechanics

Referee only winds the clock when the clock had been previously stopped.

Referee should be positioned on the wide side of the field.

In 6 and 7 man mechanics the option is there for the referee to go on the throwing arm of the QB.
