starting the clock
Team A punts to team B, B11 muffs punt and is recovered by team A. does the clock start on the ready for play? what if team B possesses ball and then fumbles back to team A, when would the clock start?

When a new series is awarded after a scrimmage kick, the clock starts on the snap. Makes no difference whether it's a new series for R or K.

according to 3-4-3c it would start on the snap. is this correct?

Okay, don't have my rule book here with me. But in Fed, if the punt was a "muff", and A recovers, doesn't the clock start on the "Ready" instead of the snap (since there was never a change of possession)? This is no different than when A gets a new series of down on a running play. The clock would start on the "ready" vs the "snap".

Now, if B caught the kick, and then fumbled, and A recovered the fumble, then the clock would start on the snap (change of possession).

NFHS...
Nope.... in both cases ( the muff or the fumble), the clock would start with the snap... since in both cases K is awarded a new series after a legal kick.

Rule 3-4-3... The clock shall start with the snap or when any free kick is touched other than first touching by K, if the clock was stopped because:

c. Either team is awarded a new series following a legal kick.
