HECK NO!!! Afetr the way those Ohio kids whupped up on the Texas boys in HS football this year I don't want no part of Ohio. ;-)
I am hoping an Ohio official can point me towards the OHSAA document that would require a kid with no legs get a waiver from OHSAA before playing. I have researched and researched but must be looking in wrong places as I can't find it. |

I'm from Jerry City, Ohio. Near Bowling Green or about 30 miles south of Toledo.
My mentor in sports is Hank Zaborniak, who is an Asst. commissioner of OHSAA. In basketball he and Dan Ross (Commissioner OHSAA) were very instrumental in my education and development as an official. There was no requirement to get a waiver. There is a requirement that waiver be granted if a prosthesis is used; it must be OK'd by the state. See NF 1-5-2d and NF 1-7, #6. Due to publicity generated when the officials last week would not let him participate in the second half citing rediculous rules to support their contention, the OHSAA stepped in and issued a statement that in their opinion there is no basis to prohibit the player from participating in the future due to his disability. |

Thanks Daryl. You don't know Max Klinger do you??? ;-)
It is refreshing to hear at least 1 zebra from Ohio not in lockstep with all those who are saying it was up to the OHSAA to issue a waiver beforehand. |

I used to be a bank manager in East Toledo. Very rich in Hungarian and other ethnicities. The owner of Tony Packo's was a client on mine so he was the one to introduce me. Tony Packo's is the restaurant at the corner of Front and Consaul Streets in East Toledo made famous by Klinger on M*A*S*H. It opened in 1932 in the middle of the Birmingham area's ethnic roots. Famous for Hungarian hotdogs and sause, the walls there are lined with hot dog buns signed by many famous celebrities. Packo's is currently under an expansion project buying up properties adjacent to the cafe to "preserve the Hungarian heritage and neighborhood. After removing aluminum siding from a tavern the family purchased they found a vintage late-1930s Pepsi-Cola sign underneath as large as the whole east wall and have retained an artist to restore the mural. |
