I'm from Jerry City, Ohio. Near Bowling Green or about 30 miles south of Toledo.
My mentor in sports is Hank Zaborniak, who is an Asst. commissioner of OHSAA. In basketball he and Dan Ross (Commissioner OHSAA) were very instrumental in my education and development as an official.
There was no requirement to get a waiver. There is a requirement that waiver be granted if a prosthesis is used; it must be OK'd by the state. See NF 1-5-2d and NF 1-7, #6.
Due to publicity generated when the officials last week would not let him participate in the second half citing rediculous rules to support their contention, the OHSAA stepped in and issued a statement that in their opinion there is no basis to prohibit the player from participating in the future due to his disability.
