I'm really curious as to what his mindset is going into these. This one was incorrect for the same reason the Cunningham play from the Bears game this past Sunday was. The ball was being contacted by an out of bounds player prior to it hitting the pylon. It's almost as if he's going into it looking for controversy. =\ |

1) Gurley loses possession (and contact with the ball) at about the 1 yard line. 2) Gurley steps out of bounds (while not in contact with the ball). 3) Ball hits plyon. 4) Gurley touches the ball after it hits the pylon, and secures possession while OOB. Of course, neither of these two things matter because by definition the ball is dead once it strikes the pylon. |

Check the angle shown at 2:02. There is clearly daylight between his hand and the ball just before his foot touches OOB.

Video needs more frames to be conclusive. Start-stopping it at .25x speed it skips from in his hand with his foot almost on the ground to full foot on the ground and clear daylight.

On the Cunningham play and the Gurley play, the ball is clearly contacted by each player whIle each player is contacting the sideline. The Bell play is certainly not conclusive to overturn. |
