Was it a pouch kick or did it hit the ground first? I did not see an angle that said either way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M-iEsfL4Qk Looks like the ball was not kicked into the ground (or was kicked directly into the ground and bounced up high, which under NCAA rules is the same thing as far as KCI is concerned). I would rather have heard this announcement:
"Since there was no receiving team player in position to make a catch and the ball went 10 yards, the possession is legal. No advance is allowed. First down, Alabama." |
