NCG - onside kick
Anyone know what Dabo was losing his mind over on the onside kick by Alabama?
|
Probably thought kick has to touch the ground, which is not true in NCAA. As long as there's no interference with a receiver, that play is completely legal.
|
The speculation in the ESPN Replay Booth cast was he was arguing KCI.
|
Was it a pouch kick or did it hit the ground first? I did not see an angle that said either way.
Peace |
Didn't look like it hit the ground. Kicked upwards and a Bama player caught it at the 50. No Clemson player was making an attempt to catch it.

No Clemson player in position to catch the ball = no foul for KCI. Ball is dead at the spot where it's recovered by Alabama. |
And come the 3rd Friday in August some HS coach will go apoplectic when we flag KCI and award a fair catch to R.
:rolleyes::cool::):D |
I would rather have heard this announcement:
"Since there was no receiving team player in position to make a catch and the ball went 10 yards, the possession is legal. No advance is allowed. First down, Alabama." |
Yeah, would have been nice.

I don't officiate football....what is KCI?
