Of course a coach thinks any contact is a foul, but I am not so sure the contact took away an advantage to the GT player when they seemed to be beat to the ball.

The only way that one isn't a foul is if you're officiating football.

The official on the game did not think it was a foul.

I realize we watch these videos and we think we know better than the officials in the games. But this is a very typical kind of contact for a loose ball and the bigger guy is going to make with a smaller guy, they are going to win that contact battle. The defender made a great play and touched the ball first and then contact took place. If I would not call that in another situation where the bigger guy got to the ball, I am not calling that on a pass. I call enough fouls in games and those games on on video to prove. The GT player was not in an advantageous position just standing there and expecting the ball to get to him.

Peace

With replay and multiple angles, we are.

Well the angle I see is mostly what the officials saw. He passed on the play. I agree with his judgment. And just like every other play, people disagree here too.

And if someone here would have called a foul, I would not have thought it was a travesty or a terrible call.

Peace

Just my view: I think the GT player had advantageous position and the contact displaced him.

I like the video we've been able to watch and dissect, but I'd be willing to bet there's at least one play from every game we work where we could have a similar discussion. More than one.

(We're also not acknowledging that there's a significant gray area in many of the calls we make or don't make. Was it a foul? Could be. Wasn't in that game.)
