The lane would be cleared as well for the shot (s) if the horn had sounded and the officials determined that no time would be put back on.
I don't have my case book in front of me, but I believe there is a strange case where the clock shows zero but the horn didn't sound. In this case (not sure how this happens -- but in case it ever did), I think the ruling is that the period is not over until the horn sounds so you would shoot all shots with players on the line.
