Undershirt change prior to Kansas St at Texas

Anyone else see this? About three Texas players had to remove illegal undershirts just before tip-off. They did it at courtside in front of the bench.
(Note: NCAA ruling on jersey removal vs NFHS rule)
Glad that this D1 crew did this as it can only help make it easier on the rest of us. Stupid announcer criticized it as not something to worry about in the rules.

Which is something that won't make it easier on the rest of us

....had to whack a player for doing this earlier in the year.

(Partner told player he couldn't play with the illegal undershirt, so player took shirt off immediately, WHACK!...This team had already had 3 players go to the locker room, during warm-ups, for various illegal items)

Visiting Coach went nuts...gave him every opportunity to calm down. He wouldn't, and also insisted that a Home player remove his headband because of a LOGO on it. I assured the Coach the logo was within its limitations. Coach wouldn't believe me...continued on about it...WHACK!

Coach was told he was now seatbelted...so Assistant Coach stood up and TOLD us he was allowed to do this by rule. Actually gave AC at least two opportunities to sit down...he wouldn't...WHACK!

3 T's in first minute of game. A record for me.

I don't like being the "fashion police"...but, since we are tasked with it I try and do it by the book.

Funny this has come up...I am currently watching a H.S. Basketball game on Television...Garfield vs. Franklin...(Teams near the Seattle area...over on the "West" side of the Cascades.)

Good officials working...just wondering why they are letting #5 from Garfield wear a White T-shirt under his Purple (Blue) Jersey?

Thanks guys...now we will be the A$$ holes when we deal with it.

Was this a kid who had just checked into the game or was he bench personnel?

The direct and indirect later to the HC make this an important question.

It's funny...we just spent more time than most of us thought we needed on this t-shirt issue in our last meeting...

but, there it was...video last night on the local news/sports channel...

a player with a dark t-shirt under a gray jersey.

I will kid with these officials about it...just like a couple did with me on the "bench personnel" issue.

(There is a little truth in all kidding)

NBA All-Star Game Jerseys Will Apparently Have Sleeves

What's next? Laces on the basketball?

Didn't basketballs have laces on them back when you first took up officiating?
I seem to recall my father telling me stories from his youth about that.

Depends on whether the first was on a Player or a Team Member/Bench Personnel.

The OP said player, so ....

On the equipment/uniforms topic:

I had a girls JV/V doubleheader on Monday. Before the JV game started, we noticed that two of the home players had white tape on at least one ear. I asked if they had earrings in, and they said they did. I told them if they were going to play they would need to remove them. They did, but told us that they had played all year with the tape on and the coach said at least one official had told them that it was fine in the JV game but not in the varsity game. I told him that they were wrong if they told him that and that they should have done the same thing we did, and he agreed. I don't know why guys won't just take care of this stuff so others don't have to deal with it later.

Yes...by rule he should have been.

The "player" was technically bench
personnel...it was right before the jump ball to start the game...I was 99.9% sure he was bench personnel...but, not 100%.

I have since checked the book and also put a like scenario on this forum...so I own this rule now.

Note:
The Coach probably wouldn't have been ejected...because after the indirect and the direct...I would have made it clear he would be gone if his AC didn't sit down.

There is no NCAA-M rule about removing jersey courtside.
