Simultaneous foul

A1 fouls B1 near the division line(pushing foul trying to go through a screen). At approximately the same time, B2 fouls A2 in the lane while A2 is in the act of shooting.

Please state your ruling and the sequence of events that follows.

Simultaneous foul, assuming you can't tell which happens first.

A's ball at the spot nearest where A1 was holding the ball.

A foul by a shooter's teammate causes the ball to become dead immediately.

Only if the try had not yet been released.

I agree that this is a simultaneous foul. Matter of fact that's what I intend this discussion to be about. What I'm not so sure about is the enforcement. Rule 6-7-4 leaves us with a dead ball in the air, so even if the try goes through the hoop, it would not count. My real question centers around the whole point of interruption for resuming play.

Since you do have one foul committed against a player who was in the act of shooting, why wouldn't you give that player 2 shots?

And just for the sake of discussion, let's look at it two ways. One, the shooting player has released the shot is still an airborne shooter when fouled. And two, the shooting player has not yet released the ball when he is fouled in the act of shooting.

Simultaneous fouls do not get free throws by rule. Treat it like a double foul.

If the shot had been released, it would count and play will resume based on if the shot went in (B ball for an end line throw in) or not (Arrow).
