I agree that this is a simultaneous foul. Matter of fact that's what I intend this discussion to be about. What I'm not so sure about is the enforcement. Rule 6-7-4 leaves us with a dead ball in the air, so even if the try goes through the hoop, it would not count. My real question centers around the whole point of interruption for resuming play.

Since you do have one foul committed against a player who was in the act of shooting, why wouldn't you give that player 2 shots?

And just for the sake of discussion, let's look at it two ways. One, the shooting player has released the shot is still an airborne shooter when fouled. And two, the shooting player has not yet released the ball when he is fouled in the act of shooting.
