Technical foul and shooter
Happened last night. A1 is driving to the basket, B1 fouls on the shot. A1, gets up and chest bumps B1, gets face to face and tells him, "How about that". A1 is assessed a technical foul. The T is A1's fifth foul. Coach of A jumps up and goes nuts, calls timeout. Calls official over puts his finger in the officials face. He gets a T.
Obviously we shoot 2 free throws for A, then go shoot 4 for B. My question is, Who shoots the free throws for the foul on A1? Does he get to shoot them, even though the T was his 5th foul? Last edited by OKREF; Wed Nov 28, 2012 at 10:32am. |

What maven said...also, the timeout should not have been granted until A1 was replaced.

4.14.1 SITUATION A:
A1 is fouled by B1 while Team A is in the bonus. The covering official is at the table reporting the foul when A1 is charged with a technical foul by the official who is observing the players. The foul on A1 is his/her fifth. RULING: A1 is disqualified as both personal and technical fouls are counted. Because A1 has been disqualified he/she will not be allowed to attempt the free throw(s) resulting from B1's foul. The substitute for A1 will shoot the free throw(s). (8-2) |
