Pre-game warmup question

Both teams are out for their pregame and with whatever minutes to go in warmups team A leaves the floor. At that point do you allow team B to shoot at both baskets.
Can someone site something in the book by any chance. Who am I kidding. I've been on here long enough to know that someone will do that. Thanks.

No. Rule 4-5-2. Also, from the 2010-11 Points of Emphasis: Sporting Behavior-"If during pre-game or half-time warmups one team leaves the floor, the other team may not use the entire court."

Check with your local area. We have had our state define what they want them to do and they do not want teams practicing on both sides. But as stated there is no actual rule against this, but there might be some local standards that are not listed in your rulebook.

Peace

4-5-2 has not historically been interpreted as restricting the pregame activities, until that POE was issued. Even now, it's up to the states to determine enforcement intensity and any applicable penalties.

Just another interp that should have been incorporated into the rule book or case book and wasn't.

In Va.the VHSL has told us for a few years to keep each team on their end of the floor at all times during warmups.

Do a google search for the NFHS PowerPoint presentation on the rules changes from the past two seasons.
There is a slide in both of them which states that a team is NOT allowed to use the other half of the court in the pregame warmup even if the opposing side has left the floor.
