Maxim - - for Peer Review

Today's deep thought, for which your critique, comment, response is appreciated:

There's a difference between being "right" and being "good."
An official can be "right", yet not "good".
Yet an official can't be "good" without being "right."

I give it four responses before it ventures off-topic onto something to do with fashion police or the preference for Reebok Zigs or whether or not we should go back to having jump balls every held ball, but even those comments are worth consideration while this day of work passes by.

+1

Now, Freddy, what would you say are some of the attributes necessary to add to "right" in order to be "good"?

And exactly what kinda job do you have where you can do nothing but make up threads to post on the forum here?

Just off the top of my head, I'd add . . .

Hustle
Mental Preparation
Being Engaged
Deportment
Timeliness
Fitness
Tactfulness
Attentiveness
Discernment
Trustworthiness
Confidence
Ability to Accept Critique

. . . any others?

Not at that job today. At the other job. With one job I cannot afford to spend time on the internet. With this job I can.

I like this list ... a lot.

I can only concern myself about being right. What's "good" is too subjective and has too many variances among others.

So what you're saying is that there might well be a difference between being good as an official and some other's opinion of whether you are good or not, in spite of being right. Right?

Hey? I invented the self quote. Freddy stepped it up a notch to a self double quote.

Thanks for the enlightened update BillyMac. You are so intelligent, and to top it off, you're also quite a handsome devil, a true gentlemen, and a scholar, and they're aren't many of us left in this world.
