I didn't see anything to say she was getting paid. The city allstar game here is worked volunteer. Not that it matters. I'd love to read her side of the story, though.

I don't touch those recruiting showcases. The organizers make up crap as they go along and expect anybody who shows up in stripes to have 180 degree flexibility.

For all we know she wasn't scheduled to work in the afternoon and she filled in because "we are doing this for the kids".

Okay, I just watched the video, and I'm even less concerned. They're having a "recruiting showcase" in this gym? Really?

I am never surprised by these leagues that treat officials as if we are obligated to be there. Honestly it was a AAU type game, so who cares what the officials did if you ask me.

Peace

Between that gym and the "uniforms" the players were wearing, I'd have assumed this was a rec league game.

My guess is her replacement didn't show up because he had something more worthwhile to do. Also don't know what kind of crap she was taking from the teams during the game. I would have never done it, but again, I'd love to hear her side of the story before dumping all over her.

I agree. She probably was doing someone a favor.

Peace

She must have a sizeable equipment bag. Especially if she carries a spare.

She's probably already worked 5-6 games and was supposed to leave and said she'd stay to throw up the toss -- just in case things got out of control.

I was at a clinic this past year where people left early and the organizer told the remaining officials to do exactly what she did in this video -- nobody was getting paid and the tournament organizer had added a few games behind his back and just expected everyone to cover for nothing.

As others have said, there's probably a back story. And it's why I don't touch this crap, either.

I liked how the ball hit her in the back on the toss as she was heading to the chair. Why was there only 1 official? Non of these players looked college level. I think there was some shenanigans on the Tournament directors part.
