NCAA Women
Quick question on 5 second count for closely guard NCAA Women:
Does closely guard apply all over the court or just FRONT COURT? Is there a 10 second backcourt count for women? Oops..thats 2 quick questions Thanks! |

After a made basket and before the ball is thrown in, the shot clock is reset and allowed to start counting down from the new 30. However, the new T doesn't start the 10 second count until it is possessed by a player in bounds (and the shot clock is at 27-28). When the shot clock shows 20, the coach for the defensive team will be going nuts, but the T will only have a count of 7-8 on the play... We all know that not all shot clock operators are the best at handling the shot clock after a made basket, and this will only add another wrinkle in the mix. |

Fix it. Under today's rules. Under "tomorrows" (potential) rules.

With the shorter shot clock anyone that can keep a team in the back court for 10+ seconds is going to have a definite advantage. I have no idea if that has anything to do with the lack of a 10 second rule.
