This actually came up in discussion today during our pregame. I really hope that that it doesn't happen either. I can only imagine how many coaches are going to get upset when this situation happens:
After a made basket and before the ball is thrown in, the shot clock is reset and allowed to start counting down from the new 30. However, the new T doesn't start the 10 second count until it is possessed by a player in bounds (and the shot clock is at 27-28). When the shot clock shows 20, the coach for the defensive team will be going nuts, but the T will only have a count of 7-8 on the play...
We all know that not all shot clock operators are the best at handling the shot clock after a made basket, and this will only add another wrinkle in the mix.
