Coach's box and Bench set up

We have a team that sets up their court a little differently. From the court facing the benches and table has the home on the left and V on the right. The scorer's table about 2/3 down on the right. The home team then sets up their bench chairs so that the bench extends out side the coach's box by 6 or 7 chairs giving the coach more room toward midcourt. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to handle?

Bring it to your state association's attention. Also the coaching box is from 14 to 28 feet from the respective end line so regardless of where the chairs are that is where his/her box is.

I know but if they sit in the furthest chair it may give them an advantage. It is a HS team and I know they talked about it last year. Obviously nothing happened.

If the coach sits down in a seat outside the box, he doesn't get to use the box.

What is this "coach's box" of which you speak?

You handle it the way you would handle any other bench. The coach MUST sit in a chair that's inside the coaching box in order to be able to use the box. It makes no diffeence where the table is.

BTW, it's a coaching box, not a coaches' box.

There is one school I go to that is like this. The school is only a few years old and the gym is very nice, but there isn't enough room behind the table to get up the stairs that are right at the division line. Instead they move the table toward the home bench (On the left if you're looking at the table). They don't move the home bench, but they move the visitor's bench up toward the division line to keep it the same distance away from the table. This means that more than half of the chairs are outside the coaching box. (The boxes are in the right place) The one time I was there this year, I had the visitors slide their chairs toward the endline so they would be in the same place that the home bench is in relative to the coaching box.

Have you ever been to Visitation? Biggest Girls Holiday tournament in the St Louis area. Their bench placement for both teams is messed up. They ain't never going to change it. Just ask Brian @ Francis Howell Central about the Coaching box.
