humerous charge

Wish i had this on video. 9th grade boys A1 lowers shoulder and deliberately contacts B1 in torso with shoulder, then bounces back... A1 is about 120lbs and B1 is 200lbs. like running into a wall. there was alot of chuckles when ref called charging. How would u treat this...no-call or charge?

I'd likely call the resulting A1 travel.

How is it a charge? More likely a travel or no call.

I'd likely go with a no call on this (unless A1 traveled). The contact did not disadvantage B1.

Whether it is the case or not in this situation, a defender doesn't have to tolerate being rammed even if they are able to avoid being displaced.

Perhaps this situation (if no foul or violation is called) does create an advantage for A1 (and a disadvantage for B1)....."space".

Space for A1 to get a shot off is one thing that comes to mind.

Not if B1 isn't displaced.

Even if B1 isn't displaced, it's not a stretch to think A1 "bounces" back (as indicated in the OP) or sideways thereby creating space. Physics. For every action there's an opposite and equal reaction. If A1 "bounces" away from B1 far enough, he may well gain some advantage otherwise not gained had he not had collided with the B1. Wordy, huh?

I doubt A1 is gaining a advantage by running into a virtual wall then bouncing off no matter how much space they end up with. If they did gain so much space, it wouldn't be any more than they had before they approached B1.

Nothing illegal about that. B1 isn't hindered from anything.
