Need a mechanic refresher please

I work with IAABO mechanics, so I've forgotten the NFHS 2-whistle mechanic after calling a foul. When does the calling official go tableside? Is it always? Only for shooting fouls? Not when "going long"? Any help is appreciated. Remember, 2-whistle, please! Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "going long," but the IAABO mechanic I've learned is: hustle to the reporting area (tableside, midcourt), stop, state your foul(s), team color(s), free throws or indicate throw-in spot, then hustle out of the area. (If there are any subs or DQs, deal with them accordingly.)

Of course, Roman Law always applies.

And after that, by IAABO mechanics, what position does the calling official take?

Sorry if my original post was unclear. I need to know the NFHS switching mechanics. (IAABO is easy, switch on every foul.)

I'm going to go with Smitty unless I hear something different.

You switch for all non shooting fouls unless it is a looooooooong switch, then you just go back to your original position. If it is a shooting foul, then you go table side.

Tableside is just for shooting fouls.

Scrapper is asking for the book mechanic, not what you folks (and perhaps I) do locally.

By the NFHS manual:

You switch on ALL fouls with the exception of shooting fouls. On a shooting foul, the calling official goes trail, tableside.

The IAABO manual says to switch on all fouls.

It wasn't. We don't use straight NFHS mechanics here, so I didn't answer.
