Need a mechanic refresher please
I work with IAABO mechanics, so I've forgotten the NFHS 2-whistle mechanic after calling a foul. When does the calling official go tableside? Is it always? Only for shooting fouls? Not when "going long"? Any help is appreciated. Remember, 2-whistle, please! Thanks.

All except going long

I'm not sure what you mean by "going long," but the IAABO mechanic I've learned is: hustle to the reporting area (tableside, midcourt), stop, state your foul(s), team color(s), free throws or indicate throw-in spot, then hustle out of the area. (If there are any subs or DQs, deal with them accordingly.)
Of course, Roman Law always applies. |

Sorry if my original post was unclear. I need to know the NFHS switching mechanics. (IAABO is easy, switch on every foul.)
I'm going to go with Smitty unless I hear something different. |
You switch for all non shooting fouls unless it is a looooooooong switch, then you just go back to your original position. If it is a shooting foul, then you go table side.

Scrapper is asking for the book mechanic, not what you folks (and perhaps I) do locally.
By the NFHS manual: You switch on ALL fouls with the exception of shooting fouls. On a shooting foul, the calling official goes trail, tableside. |
The IAABO manual says to switch on all fouls.
