Had a first tonight

Girl's JV

2nd half, Blue coach gets a timeout. He comes up to me and says I'm gonna put a kid in who's not in the book, I'll take the T for it.

OK coach, you got it.

He was a good sport about it, rest of the game went off without a hitch.

It's the first time a coach has ever volunteered to take a tech.

Well it's not like he had a choice if he wanted his player in there. At least he was reasonable about it.

I had a first on Tuesday. I had to have a player in a Freshman boys game sub out because he had (a lot) of beads in his hair. The coach was absolutely flabbergasted.

It is not common, but not totally unusual either.

Peace

He has no choice but to be a good sport about it, your crew didn't do anything wrong. He also had no choice but to take a 'T' for it.

Actually what I am saying is that this happens to many people over their careers once or twice, but it is not an every game occurrence or every year occurrence either.

Peace

Many Moons Ago...

When I was in high school, my coach screwed up and misprinted my number in the score book. I was the 13th guy on a 12 man team, so my chances of getting in were usually slim to none. Well, as was the case in so many games that year, we were getting killed. He put me in knowing that he was going to get hit with the T. He didn't need to do that. Of course, the fans thought he had done something (again) to get himself T'd up, but for once it wasn't for being an ***!

When's April Fool's Day ???

It can't be me. I've done hundreds of Division I games, Division I Catholic middle school games, that is.

Well I should hope so. I can imagine his first D1 game being a tournament game!
