Question Hand is part of the ball

Ok. I know as a general rule the hand is part of the ball. Are there any exceptions and can it ever get to excessive, like moves the rest of the body excessive.

What are your thoughs?

According to 4-24-2 it is legal in every situation except on the pass.

As long as the contact is incidental to an attempt to play the ball.

I think it all depends on the severity of the contact & the previous calls in similar situations. As WE all know, mere contact does not constitute a foul.

Fed... the NCAA ruling is the same but spelled out a bit more clearly.

If the initial contact isn't a foul, lingering contact isn't likely to change that. If the contact turns into a hold, however....

No the hand is not apart of the ball, the hand is apart of the arm or connected to the arm.

But we are to not consider contact with the hand a foul when the ball is in contact with the ball in most situations.

Peace

I just can't not ask.

How many balls do you normally play with?

Was there a specific situation or play for which you wanted clarification?

What a bell did to Pavlov's dog, this statement does to Mark Padgett.

It is legal use of hands to accidentally hit the hand of the opponent when it is in contact with the ball. This includes holding, dribbling, passing, or even during a shot attempt. Striking a ball handler or a shooter on that player's hand that is incidental to an attempt to play the ball is not a foul, no matter how loud it sounds or how much it hurts.
