Thumbs up It's the WNBA, not the WNBE

Just caught a few minutes before halftime of the WNBA Atlanta - Washington game. One of the Washington players took an extra step on her drive to the hoop and traveling was called! I guess that in the pro game, that call is gender-specific.

You do know that the WNBA travel rule is exactly the same as the NBA rule and that they are taught the same philosophies at both levels right?

And you do know that the NBA/WNBA travel rule is slightly different in determining the pivot foot compared to NF/NCAA rules and thus there are times were an extra step compared to NF/NCAA is legal by rule?

*Cue some stupid "joke"/response" from Mark*

Chris Bosh was called for travelling at the 3-point line in Game 4, Lebron was called for travelling in the paint in Game 3.

He was called for traveling twice in game 3 and has been called for a couple of more during this series.

*Cue some "joke" about Tim Donaughy from Mark*

Shouldn't Title IX kick in?

Mark,

If you actually watch NBA games and not just read about them here, you might see traveling called a lot. Me and APG joke a lot on off this site about calls made that we have seen during this very playoffs. And Lebron has been called for traveling several times in even critical points of games. So I guess that dispels the "star treatment" myth too.

Peace

Title IX don't apply to pro sports.

You have to play like a star to get this kind of treatment.... that leaves Lebron out during these finals!

FACT: There are missed travels at EVERY level of play.

IMO: NBA guys & Violet have mastered the art of calling obvious travels & passing on the ones that need to be rewinded 4-6 times to validate.
NBA players just dont travel as much as the lower levels & their gathering skills are quite exceptional as well!
At the lower levels you see travels called that really never happened. I've witnessed calls made purely on the movement of the feet... what about the status of the ball? NBA officials dont make this call when there is doubt as to whether a player is holding a live ball inbounds.

On the obvious missed Wade travel (trap) last night, one of the commentators said (IKR) its tough for the official to watch the feet & the contact on those type of plays. Im quite sure the crew looked at that play to see how they could've got it right.

Recording a Triple-Double in the Finals (even though they lost) is a great personal achievement & is quite Star like IMO. But thats just me...
