In response to both the title of the thread and your question (with golf season on my mind).

Your approach: Layup and get on the green, in enough to save par. Going for it all in situations like this is almost never going to work out. Play the situation, not your ego.

Just be a good partner and have a good pre-game. What they do with a coach is really not your concern other than what you do after a T (which you should talk about any game you work anyway). All you do is be on the same page and work your game. If you are a person on a board, just be professional. Not sure what you should worry about. Deal with them like they have to deal with you and work together.
