Player on the floor

I had an oddity tonight.

3 man varsity girls.

In the 2nd Q home up 20 and pressing, on an inbound play, visitor make a bad pass and A1 ( visitor ) and B1 go after the ball, B1 slips and falls, A1 gets the ball and turns away from pressure from B2 and falls over B1 on the floor. she loses the ball and B3 gets the ball goes to the basket for an easy lay up.

Play is stopped for B1 who got kicked in the face as A1 fell over her.

I got nothing on the play, but visitor coach ( who is a very good official also ) is complaining that I should have had a foul on B1 on the floor.

it happened so fast and all I am thinking is, what's the call if any? A1 turned and fell over a player.. the player never moved, she had fallen going for the ball but didn't get the ball.

Should I have had a call? What's the call?

I had an evaluator there and I asked him at halftime, he said he had nothing. Partners had nothing as they were watching their areas during the press.

Thanks,

I agree - based on the description, there is no call. Sounds like you called it correctly. BTW, even a good official when he is a coach wants calls to go his way

NFHS, great no-call. The player is entitled to his spot.

NCAA has a different interpretation and laying on the floor is not legal position and a foul would have been appropriate.

Thanks for the responses so far.

I guess I should add, that when the Visitor fell over the player on the floor, A1 kicked the player in the face ( by accident ) and cut B1's skin above her eye. We had to stop the game when she was attended to. She did return in the 3rd Q without any problems.

Blood was on the court and taken care of by a student, though not as it should have been, no gloves, no towels just paper towels.

It's always something.

Yeah, I Do Have A Long Memory ...

Three point "football type" stance on the floor. Illegal according to old IAABO refresher exam. Got it wrong. Still don't agree.

I think there can be a difference between an intentional "non-basketball position", and an accidental fall to the ground.

The first is really no different from an excessively wide stance on a screen.
