Pregnant wife (ref) when woud you stop?

My friend’s wife will be pregnant in her 8th month when our state playoffs start; he is also a referee and works with her. When, if at all would you make her stop working games. Way too many things can happen that our out of her control that could cause an injury to her unborn child. Not to mention our state contracts state we should be in 100% physical condition or we shouldn't work. Thoughts?

It's Not BillieMac ...

If I find out that I'm pregnant, I will stop officiating immediately, and join the circus.

I think that's probably a question for the doctor. And mother has to listen to her body. In my opionion, probably 5 months. By 6 months your really showing and the fans will see the reason she might be a little slow on her feet. Don't need to give them any reason to question the officials ability.

Your friend is married to a woman, correct?

I can "trick" mine into doing things but "make" her is out of the question. IJS

Female? Wisconsin? I'll look for her on TV.

I tried telling my wife not to mow the lawn when she was pregnant. Let's just say that didn't go over very well. And then her doc got in on the act and told me it was good exercise for her. I've mowed the lawn twice in the past 5 years and was told how terrible of a job I do.

Maybe after the child is born, but until then? The laws are pretty clear on that subject.

That is a topic for another day....the risks strongly outweigh working the games.

That's between her and her doctor. Like my wife's doctor told me, exercise (even running) is good for most women even later on in pregnancy.

Are you an OBG? I've got a coworker (Army Guard) who kept running at the gym into her 8th month.

The risk being knocked over...ball hitting you...running into or falling over a coach (that is kneeling). This is not walking around the track at the gym or taking a walk in the park.

My guess is she's in better condition, even pregnant, than half of your officials over 60. And I wouldn't even consider trying to "make her" do anything, even if I was her husband.

Are you going to suggest she stop driving? More people get injured every day driving to work than reffing a basketball game.

My advice, stay out of it.
