The old throw it off the defender's back side trick...

Middle School game: Had a team throw the inbound pass off the backside of the defender who was defending with their back turned. A play that's been around forever. My partner said that was a violation now after a rule change a few years ago. I can't find it. Any help?

Your partner was wrong. The play is legal as long as the thrower was no longer OOB when they recovered the ball.

Find a new partner. Did that help?

IIRC, this ruling is only valid when there are millionaires on the court, and none of us are at that level...yet!

What do you mean by this? This play would be legal in the NBA as well.

If they aren't, it's an oversight.

Had this exact same play in a NCAA-W game on saturday. Like others say, as long as she establishes inbound status. I thought it was pretty old school......LOL..

I bet you won't be laughing out loud if you say Old School three times and he shows up. I promise you, it will be much, much, uglier than this:
