So far I only know of one instance where this happened. V fan was overly-obnoxious concerning calls & officiating, officials stated either remove the fan or game will be forfeited for failure to control team/spectators.

This was by official's command so it was done with no questions asked.

So far I have only seen this 1 instance where an official requested that a fan be removed.

The fan was distracting attention away from the game due to comments that lead to play being halted.

Other than that, generally a PA announcement or stern warning from game management does the trick.

Nope, the referee has total jurisdiction over the actual running of the game from the time he appears on the court for warmups up until the time he disappears from view after the game. That includes anything to do with the actual conduct of the game including the involvement of fans, band, cheerleaders, teams, media, etc. It also very specifically includes all of the table crew. if we have any problem outside the lines, it's up to your cabal to fix those problems when asked.

Your AD, Principal and vice principal can sell tickets and popcorn though.

Sooooooo.....be very, very nice to Rookie Dude the next time he shows up. From your standpoint, he is God.

I'm always nice to RookieDude, he can verify that fact.

I was meaning in circumstances where the officiating crew are involved because of the fan becoming too big of a disturbance where they take attention away from the game.

Generally though, if game management is doing things properly, it should not get to the point of attention being focused into the stands instead of on the court.

True Grit. Good movie. Both of them.

(I guess that contractions weren't invented yet back in the 19th century?)

Sounds like other states should pass a law like we have here in Oregon. If anyone - coach, player, spectator, etc. - is directed to leave a sports venue by an official and they do not leave, they are committing "criminal trespass" and the police can be called to remove the person and charge them with a class C misdemeanor.

I keep a copy of this bill in my bag along with a copy of the Oregon statute on assaulting a sports official, which is, at the very least, a class A misdemeanor, punishable by jail time. When this bill was under consideration by our state legislature a few years ago, I was asked to testify in the State Senate committee, which I did. I was told later by my State Senator that my testimony was very persuasive, and I like to think that I had at least something to do with this law being passed.

I wasn't the one that made up the original listing however.

As I stated in my follow up posting, the 4 of us are on equal footing as to the chain of command depending on where we are located.
