The "Worst Thing" an Official Can Do?
Oklahoma vs Texas
Texas player has the ball on the endline. Backing he defender down, turns slightly towards the lane, bends at the waist and raises his shoulder and pretty overtly knocks the defender down at his midsection. Defender went down pretty good - overly dramatic reaction by the defender? Maybe so. Ed Hightower is the L. He gives a couple of hand gestures I couldn't quite make out (shocker)....and then motions to the player on the ground - as to say "son, I've got nothing, you need to get up." Bob Knight, our favorite color man says, "If I'm a coach, that's the worst thing any official could do. Pass on the call and then tell the kid to get up." The worst? C'mon Bob. Anyone else see it? Comments?

As far as Bobby Knight is concerned, the worst thing an official could do is show up to work one of his games......

Short and to the point. Agreed on all accounts.

John Adams has adamantly stated not to give the "get up" hand gesture to players if you no-call something. As much as I respect Hightower's acheivements and career, I don't care for his over dramatic mechanics.

Ed Hightower has been around for an awfully long time and we don't know what really happened. I am sure he had a great reason for giving the 'get up' getsture and unless you were there how can you judge. We don't eat our own!!

You don't have a whistle, you don't have a foul. We don't like it when coaches and/or players try to show us up. Why should we try to show them up with extra "get up off your butt" signals? Taunting by the official? Let's all play nice together.
