You are correct. There is no rule support for issuing a DOG warning. What would be appropriate is starting a count since the ball is clearly at the team's disposal.

We had this same thing happen this year. Our player was issued a DOG and it was put in the book for the same reason. The officials explaination was that "A player is not allowed to touch the ball once it goes through the net"! I was VERY good and did NOT ask how a team was supposed to put the ball in play after a made basket. They would have a point if Team A scored and a player from Team A was holding the ball, but not if a player from Team B was. Feel free to start the count, which would then negate the need for a DOG.
