For a two hundred pound official, running about three miles (my average, using a pedometer, for a few varsity games last year), it's about 400 calories. However, that assumes that your running all the time. Sometimes we run at full speed, sometimes we jog, and sometimes we walk.

Thinking back to my running days, I ran road races as a young adult, the two most important factors regarding calories burned are the distance traveled, and the weight of the runner. Speed is certainly a factor, but it is a very small factor. If you're going to cover a certain distance, the faster your run, the less time you will be running; and the slower you run, the more time you will be running.

I'd say it is more like line dancing - slide to the left, slide to the right. Gotta get those angles.
