Rick Hartzell Injured

I was in attendance today at the Alabama/Alabama A&M game, and I watched in horror as on an out of bounds play, an Alabama A&M player who was trying to save a ball going out of bounds crashed into Rick Hartzell and knocked him into the scorer's table. He was in a ton of pain, and a few of the Alabama walk-on players helped him to the locker room. He came back a few minutes later and tried to finish, but during one change of possession, he was out of breath and just turned and walked off the court. Ted Valentine and Mike Nance did 2-man the rest of the way.

I know this is a real long shot, but I was just wondering if anyone might have an update on his condition. I hope that he has a speedy recovery.

Kind of a surprise to see him get injured especially after seeing how many games he's worked.

Rick Hartzell - College Basketball Referee

Didin't know that there was a way to keep track of Officials in NCAA until now.

Court experience & knowing what to & not to expect when the ball is in play.

In other words, bad things happen to good people. He just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, something that happens to everyone at least once in their lives.

Your "wishes" are trumped by the following assinine comment by you... (amongst others.....)

"Court experience & knowing what to & not to expect when the ball is in play."

I'd classify it as ignorant rather than asinine, but personal preference goes a long way there.

That's great to hear he wasn't seriously injured & was able to continue doing what he loves to do.

I was watching him work on Thanksgiving at Disney and he was really struggling up and down the court like he had a knee/leg problem.
