One day late, I guess...Is Flag Day on a Sunday or are we observing today?

It makes you cry ... again.

Bud Furillo was a local L.A. sportswriting and sportscasting legend. During his run at the old Los Angeles Herald Examiner, on the wall of his office, Bud proudly displayed a huge 4' x 5' print of that Pulitzer-nominated photo of Monday running away with the flag, which, of course was photographed by a Herald photographer: James Rourke. It made you shiver just looking at it, as it does now.

I only he could have somehow "bowled them over" as well. I wish I could have heard what Lasorda said. This is the first time I noticed him out there in their faces.

Based on decades of listening to Tommy's legendary rants, it probably went something like this: "What the f--- do you two worthless, little pieces of s--- think you're doing? That's the American flag you're f------ with, God damnit! You know why you two little c---------s are free to live your worthless, chicken s--- little lives?!? Because brave young men died to protect what that flag stands for, you worthless, cowardly little co--------s! I can not f------ believe that there are two more cowardly little co--------s than you two. Get these chicken s--- little c---------- off this field before I kick their f------ a$$es!"

From the original linked video:

"Tommy yelled about every expletive a longshoreman knows" or something to that effect.

The two pieces of $hit were already in the correct, kneeling position, Why didn't someone come up behind them with a .45 and finish the job?

Sorry, but if it is their right (burning the American Flag) to have freedom of expression, then I express my right to freedom of expression and send these idiots to hell!

While I would have been ok with them getting roughed up, I do not think that homicide would have been justified.

I concur, homicide is a little over the line, but I think it would be within my right (and maybe my responsibility) to put out that fire with a firehose from 10-15 feet away.

I have a new hero in Rick Monday.
And Lasorda's stock just increased, in my mind, exponentially (that means "a lot" for any coaches who might read this).

I know that this rubs some people the wrong way but I really get pissed when I see scum like this desecrating Our Flag. Splattering a few brains might just wake up the rest of the bunch! I wouldn't consider this homicide, I would call it Flag-icide!
