Nice story about Rick Reed making a comeback after being sidelined following 2 strokes.

AAA callup. He's the Crew Chief for Crew I.

Umpires: Crews | MLB.com: Official info

Being a Crew chief, Mr. Reed will not replace anyone as he was temporarily being replaced by Jeff Kellogg as the acting crew chief on his crew. If my math is correct 1+1=2, Rick Reed must have been the other retirement to fill an administrative position, that was alluded to back in Feb. by Tim_C, until the Union stepped in as the article said, when MLB denied his request to come back and challenged that decision.
Since Rob Drake has been working up in place of Rick on that crew, when Rick comes back Rob will move to another assignment and another AAA guy with less experience that is working up will probably go back down to trips.
