Bag Stuff

- Advil, Advil, more Advil
- I wear an osteoarthritis brace so some graphite lube and the adjuster key for the brace
- 2 Officials Jerseys
- Extra black T's
- Extra Black Socks
- Extra pair black pants
- Towel
- Bottled Water
- Purel
- Several Needles for ball adjustments (and a pump - though I really don't need that)
- Rule Book
- I work a league that has some modified rules for 4th/5th grades so I bring a print out of those rules
- Contact info is mostly on the i-phone. Would love to have the rulebook on .pdf.
- Several energy bars or similar snack stuff
- About a dollar in change and a couple of emergency dollar bills for water if needed
- Alternate pair of shoes (if you've ever tried to work with sore feet you'll understand)
- Some business cards I made up a few years ago at Vistaprint.com for free. Never know when you'll need to exchange contact info. Meet a lot of good people doing this. (I keep waiting for a hot mom to ask for one but alas, no luck)

Even those 900 numbers that you like to call before you take a cold shower after a game?

Also, I heard about your blizzard on the radio this morning on the way to work. I actually thought about you, and rockyroad, and whether, or not, you guys owned snow shovels, or snow blowers.

And here's an interior view:

Depending on which truck I'm in, I sometimes have an air compressor and a hydraulic jack. Never actually used either at a game, but you never know.

Well Legacy Emmanuel must be real busy cause of the weather.

How about since it's winter the essential winter weather kit in the vehicle?

How often have you seen this since the snow came?

Today, the high in Portland (no, not the residents - they're high enough) was only 30 degrees. That made it the coldest November day in Portland in over a quarter of a century! Imagine - Portland hasn't had a high daily temperature below freezing in anytime in November in the past 25 years.

Oh yeah - it "snowed" during the night- about 1/4 inch. Here, they consider that a blizzard. Almost all evening school activities were canceled yesterday and today. If the weather stays like this for the next few months, I'm sure a lot of games will get canceled. When I tell my relatives back in Chicago about this stuff, they just laugh.

A 12"x 8" incline board for pre-game calf and heel stretching...fits nicely in the bottom of my bag.
A frozen water bottle for icing.
An ankle strap, along with two slip on neoprene knee supports...just in case.
Icy Hot in the roll on applicator.

Two reasons:
1. You wear contact lenses.
2. One of your partners wears contact lenses.

It's nice to see people can carry on without me.

While Tanner does carry everything that's been listed so far (at least two of each, in fact), I don't. But, for some of the newbies, it should be pointed out these items are all personal preference, and based on what level they're working. I would think that someone starting out should, at the minimum, carry an extra shirt, pants, and whistle, as well as the rules for the level they're working. As they continue to progress, it will become apparent what else they might need.

One item that I carry that I didn't see mentioned was a court diagram. This can range from a copy of the court coverages out of the Official's manual, up to a magnetic board that has little magnets indicating officials and the ball. These can be very useful in pre-game to help go over areas of coverage and possible situations that may come up. It can also be used at half-time, or after the game, to go over specific plays.

Yes, the policies are moronic. But they are what they are.
