Check out the picture of Sebastian Telfair at the link below (2nd picture down). When questions come up about the hand position on the ball, and whether it is a carry or not, this would be a good picture to show as an example.

Mainly,I wanted to see if I could post the picture.
I'm trying to think of a situation where I could see that and not call it a carry. Nothing comes to mind. But, I'm not on the floor and you never know...

Actually with me, your right Hawks Coach. That is more likely what I'd call here.
But as far as the picture of a ball at rest in a hand with the direction the player is moving, looks like a carry.

Without the last ten or the next ten frames, it's really hard to tell what's going on. There are three very obvious possibilities, carry, handcheck, and PC, depending on what comes before and after this little snap. There could also be a hold on the dribbler, if his right hand is in the process of grasping the defender's hand. And if this is the beginning of a dribble, and the left foot is the pivot, there could easily be a travel, unless he turns that ball over in a hurry. The defender probably doesn't have LGP, so he could be headed toward a block. This is a great action photograph, but it doesn't clarify much!
